  • Mohammad Rizwan blasted 75 off 74 balls for Pakistan.

Pakistan cruised to a 131-run victory over Zimbabwe in the opening match of their one-day series at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.

Pakistan's middle order rescued the innings while the slow-bowling attack, led by the irrepressive Yasir Shah, skittled out Zimbabwe's batsmen with ease. Yasir's six-wicket haul was the second best by a Pakistan bowler, and the best ever by a spinner in the African country.

Mohammad Rizwan blasted 75 off 74 balls as Pakistan set the hosts a target of 259 to win for the loss of six wickets.

But Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 128 in their reply with Yasir Shah the leading wicket taker as he ended the innings with figures of six for 26.

Pakistan had been reduced to 35 for three before Rizwan hit a career best of 75 not out and Imad Wasim also hit his maiden international fifty as he scored 61.

Sean Williams top scored for Zimbabwe with 26 but they were no match for Pakistan and were bowled out inside 37 overs.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday for the second game of this three-match series.
