Mahela Jayawardene whom we all had seen as a cricketer and then batting consultant for England till last year is all set to take up Mumbai Indian’s head coach position come 2017 Indian Premier League season.

Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene will replace Ricky Ponting whose tenure wasn’t extended by the Mumbai Indian management.

Mahela Jayawardene has also got good amount of IPL experience as he had featured for Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab.

Ricky Ponting well known as Punter is expected to take a big role with cricket Australia in the near future (The post is not clear yet)

As a former captain of the Sri Lankan national side, Jayawardene is canny and a true strategist on the field , the quality which he will try to inculcate in the Mumbai team. More recently, he served in as a batting consultant role for England ahead of their Test series against Pakistan in the UAE.
