  • Expectant crowds: The response to the IPL in the UAE has been immense.

The Indian Premier League is heading for a rousing start in the UAE with a full house expected for the first four days in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai.

The IPL kicks-off with the opening game between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders and then heads to Sharjah for the Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers tomorrow.

The Twenty20 league returns to Abu Dhabi on Friday with a double header – Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals.

The Dubai International Stadium gets into the fray with a double header on Saturday – Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians and Knight Riders v Daredevils.

Tickets for all these six matches spread over four days have been sold out.

“The excitement among sports enthusiasts in the United Arab Emirates has reached fever pitch,” said a release from the BCCI yesterday.
