The Indian legend got everyone laughing.

While Kevin Pietersen might not be playing in the tenth edition of the IPL, he certainly doesn’t want to miss out on the ‘fun’ aspect of the tournament.

Commentating during the game between Rising Pune Supergiant, his former team and the Mumbai Indians, KP had a moment that he will remember for a long while.

Talking to RPS’ Manoj Tiwary who was mic’d up whilst fielding in the slips, KP asked him to tell MS Dhoni that he (KP) was a better golfer than him. Tiwary agreed and told Dhoni the same (in Hindi) when he got the chance.

But what happened next was what made it a moment to savour. Dhoni on hearing KP’s words said, “He’s still my first Test wicket”.

KP took it in a positive manner but reminded everyone listening that it was a referral. The incident dates back to 2011, during the first Test of the Pataudi Trophy, when Dhoni came onto bowl.

He struck KP’s pads on the first ball and in the same over appealed for a caught behind which was given out, but replays suggested the ball had touched KP’s pads instead. Dhoni therefore doesn’t have a Test wicket.

But well, he got everyone to believe that on air.

Who do you think will win IPL 2017? Which batsman will win the Orange Cap and which bowler will take home the Purple Cap?

WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR?

The Gujarat Lions, playing in their debut season, took the league by storm as they finished at the top of the league standings. With nine wins from 14 matches, they went into the playoffs with high hopes.
But despite getting two chances at qualifying for the final, the Lions faltered and were eliminated in the second qualifier by eventual winners SunRisers Hyderabad.

Earlier, they had lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in a closely-fought contest in the first Qualifier. They had set a target of 159 and had the hosts reeling at 29-5 before a top knock from AB de Villiers took RCB to the final.

Captain Suresh Raina was the top run-scorer for the Rajkot-based franchise last season, with 399 runs to his name. Australia's Aaron Finch also looked in good touch during the tournament, notching up 393 runs at an average of 39.30.

Dhawal Kulkarni and Dwayne Bravo were the most impressive bowlers with 18 and 17 scalps respectively during the 2016 season.

WHAT IS NEW THIS YEAR?

The Gujarat Lions were very busy in the auction this year as they ended up purchasing a total of 11 players: Jason Roy, Chirag Suri, Pratham Singh, Aksh Deep Nath, Nathu Singh, Basil Thampy, Tejas Singh Baroka, Manpreet Gony, Munaf Patel, Shelly Shaurya, and Shubham Agrawal.

Suri, in fact, is the first player from the United Arab Emirates [UAE] to be snapped up by an IPL franchise and his participation in the tournament is likely to bring more exposure to cricket in the UAE.

The biggest signing they have made is England's Jason Roy, who surprisingly went unsold at the start of the auction. The Lions also have Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch as options to open the batting and it'll be interesting to see how they go about selecting their side.

Exciting young Indian pacer Nathu Singh and veteran Munaf Patel are also in the Gujarat squad.

HOW WILL THEY DO?

A side filled with all-rounders is usually one that does well in T20 cricket and the Lions have some world-class all-rounders in their ranks.

Add to that an explosive batting line-up and some experienced bowlers, and you will see that the Lions are one of the favourites to reach the playoffs. But unlike last season, they will not want to stumble when it really matters.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR?

After a few disappointing seasons, the Delhi Daredevils roped in Rahul Dravid and Paddy Upton as part of their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2016 and their performances did see some improvement.
The Daredevils, though, still failed to qualify for the playoffs after losing what was a virtual quarter-final against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their final league match.

At the end of the league stage, they finished sixth with 14 points [seven wins and seven losses].

Wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock, with 445 runs from 13 matches - including one century, was Delhi's best batsman in the season.

When it came to the bowling, Chris Morris and Amit Mishra were the joint highest wicket-takers for the team with both bowlers accounting for 13 scalps each.

WHAT IS NEW THIS YEAR?

The Daredevils have added some real firepower to their pace department with the acquisitions of South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Australia's Pat Cummins.

They also bought international all-rounders in Corey Anderson and Angelo Mathews in the auction, two players who will no doubt add balance to the team.

Aditya Tare, Ankit Bawne, and Navdeep Saini could prove to be smart signings as all three of them are consistent performers in India's domestic circuit.

Murugan Ashwin, the mystery spinner who was with the Pune Supergiant last season and batsman Shashank Singh have also been added to the squad.

HOW WILL THEY DO?

Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy will miss this edition of the IPL and that will come as a huge blow to the Daredevils as both the players have been a key part of their team recently.

The Delhi-based franchise are yet to announce replacements for the two and their season could hinge on that.
