Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batting has been marvelled at over the last few years and that is no surprise considering they have the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Virat Kohli in their ranks.
On Sunday, though, we saw a totally different side to them as they were bowled for just 49 – the lowest total in the history of the Indian Premier League [IPL] – against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
It was a team effort which saw three fast bowlers picking up three wickets each but it was Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile who was the wrecker-in-chief as he got the key wickets of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers
Coulter-Nile started his spell with a no-ball but was soon in complete control as he dismissed Kohli for a golden duck. De Villiers tried to take the attack to the right-arm fast bowler but was only successful in giving an easy catch for wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa.
The 29-year-old also sent Kedar Jadhav back to the pavillion as he ended up taking three wickets in a fiery three-over spell, for which he was adjudged the Man of the Match.
