VIVO retains Indian Premier League title sponsorship until 2022

    Mobile phone manufacturer Vivo have retained title sponsorship of the Indian Premier League till 2022.

    In a media release, the BCCI announced that Vivo bid INR 2,199 crore (approximately AED 1.25 billion) for the next five years, a 554% increase over the previous contract which was also held by the same company. They were title sponsors of the IPL for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

    “We are delighted to have Vivo joining us once again as the title sponsor for IPL for next five years. The association with Vivo has been great for the past two seasons and I am sure they will continue to make it bigger and better,” said IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla.

    “Vivo as a brand has carved its niche and legacy in the market. We are extremely glad to have Vivo as the title sponsor and look forward to an enriching affiliation for both stakeholders,” said BCCI Acting President CK Khanna.

    “We received an overwhelming response for the title sponsorship rights and we are glad to have Vivo back on board. It is a renewal of a fruitful relationship with the brand that will extend for the next five years,” said BCCI Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary.

    The title sponsorship of the IPL was earlier held by DLF from 2008-2012 and by PepsiCo from 2013-15.
