  • It was an off-night for star man Rashid Khan.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were unable to capture their second IPL title after they were outplayed by Chennai Super Kings in the final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

With a total of 178-6 to defend, Kane Williamson’s men were stop Chennai’s batting as Shane Watson’s century secured an eight-wicket win.

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan finished with figures of 0-24 for the Sunrisers. Here, we take a closer look at arguably the best bowler in T20 cricket’s performance on Sunday.

    STATISTICS

    OVERS BOWLED: 4

    WICKETS: 0

    RUNS CONCEDED: 24

    ECONOMY-RATE: 6.00

    30-SECOND REPORT

The Afghanistan leg-spinner came on to bowl with Chennai in a strong position at 51-1 after seven overs. He plugged the run-flow by conceding only four runs of his first over. His second over was a tad expensive as it went for eight runs. By the time he came on to bowl his third, Chennai were already cruising to victory at 145-2. Despite that, he conceded just the one run in his third over.

As he bowled his final over, the match was well and truly over and Rashid was unable to make any impact.

    GOT RIGHT

When he came on to bowl, Watson and Suresh Raina had already put their foot down on the accelerator. The Afghan teenager did well to stem the flow of runs as he sent down an economical over. He remained economical throughout even as others went for plenty.

    GOT WRONG

Rashid’s main strength has been his ability to change the game for Sunrisers with quick wickets. He simply had to pick up wickets on Sunday with Watson running riot. However, it wasn’t to be for the 19-year-old whose wicket-taking ability deserted him at the biggest stage.

    VERDICT – 6/10

It was a total which allowed Rashid to attack. But, by the time the Afghan spinner came on to bowl, Chennai had gained the upper hand. The rest of the bowling, apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, was off-colour and that meant Rashid was never able to sustain the pressure. An off-day for the Afghan man in terms of wickets but he can still hold his head high.
