  • JP Duminy and his Daredevils are desperate for a win.

The Delhi Daredevils must be wondering what more they need to do to end their 11-game losing streak in the IPL.

In their first match against the Chennai Super Kings, they restricted their opponents to 150, which seemed like a chaseable total, but they fell short of the target by just one run.

In their next match, they set a daunting target of 185 against the Rajasthan Royals and lost the match off the final ball.

The Daredevils will be praying lady luck finally smiles on them when they take on Kings XI Punjab at the MCA Stadium in Pune today. Delhi sport a revamped look this season and are confident it will soon pay dividends.

As leg-spinner Imran Tahir said after the last defeat, it’s just a matter of keeping up the good work and hoping for a bit of luck.

Their top order comprising of Mayank Agarwal, Shreyas Iyer, JP Duminy, Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews made sizeable contributions in the game against Rajasthan.

And in their bowling department, leg-spinners Tahir and Amit Mishra snared six wickets between them. But it was still not enough.

The only issue they have at the moment is the fitness of pacers Mohammad Shami and Zaheer Khan, who are nursing injuries. If either of them gets fit, the Daredevils will definitely get a big boost.

Duminy’s boys have all bases covered and should keep their hopes up against a Punjab outfit that has a win and a defeat to its name.

Kings XI started off their IPL campaign with a defeat against Rajasthan. But they bounced back in Mumbai as they stunned the Indians by 18 runs. In that match, a whirlwind knock of 61 by captain George Bailey and a superb pace assault by Mitchell Johnson and Sandeep Sharma took them home.

The Punjab outfit will be pinning their hopes on Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell to recreate his World Cup form and make a sizeable contribution.

He has scores of six and seven from the first two matches of the IPL but Kings XI aren’t expected to lose faith in him any time soon as he has the ability to win any game on his own, with the bat or ball.
