  • IPL glory: Kolkata Knight Riders overcame a below-par Kings XI Punjab side.

Two years after tasting IPL success in the 2012 edition, the Kolkata Knight Riders were again celebrating. Coming up against an in-form Kings XI Punjab side, who were in their maiden final after six below-par seasons, the Knight Riders were certainly made to work for their victory.

Wriddhiman Saha rose to the occasion hitting a brilliant hundred – the first in an IPL final – to set up a chase of 200. But having lost captain Gautam Gambhir inside the first over, the former champions had Manish Pandey to thank after his urgent but fluent 94-run knock (seven fours and six sixes) played a big part as the team reached the target in the last over.
