  • Champion display: The victorious Modern Heros U-13 team.

Modern Heros’ Ronak Panoly put himself into the NSL record books as he smashed the first century in the Under-13 category on Saturday.

Spectators at 7he Sevens in Dubai, were left in awe by the opener’s incredible knock of 102 runs from just 43 deliveries.

Panoly launched nine boundaries and seven maximums, his efforts proving to be the difference as the defending champions beat JSS Blitz by 125 runs.

He follows in the footsteps as Jonathan Figy and Vivek Lakkoju to join the NSL centurion list.

But while the latter two reached double figures in 20 overs, Panoly’s achievement is more remarkable given he reached that feat in a 15-over game.

Heros batted first with Panoly and Sidharth Tugnait putting on 183 for the opening stand.

And by the time Panoly was sent back to the pavilion, the damage was already done with 183 on the board. His knock helped Heros post 187-3 and they finished the job with a strong bowling display that saw JSS Blitz reach 62-6.

Meanwhile, GOOIS held their nerve to earn a thrilling five-run win over Deira Daredevils. GOOIS posted 93-5 and it seemed that

Deira Daredevils would reach their target. But GOOIS bowled tightly and the Daredevils batsmen could not find the required runs for
    victory.

Elsewere, in the Under-15 group, Sagar Chaturvedi hit 35 as IHS Knights defeated last season’s semi-finalists DIA Wolves by six wickets, while Winchester Cobras beat DPS Falcons by five wickets.

There were also some superb team and individual displays in the Sharjah groups. In the

Under-13 group game, Syed Ahmed helped himself to three wickets to seal a 49-run win for PAK Hawks Sharjah against NIMS Rising Stars.

In the Under-15s, Vishal Raj struck a half-century as Our Own Zenith beat NIMS Rising Stars by 153 runs. Raj hit four boundaries in his 51-run knock.

Anirudh Jagdish (28) and Glenn Warren Fernandes (21) added valuable runs and, along with 95 extras, Our Own Zenith posted 201-1. In reply, NIMS Rising Stars put on a brave show but only Divyank K (10) could reach double figures.
