  • The South African spinner has been a revelation for Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League this season. The 38-year-old entered his team’s match as the top wicket-taker with 10 scalps. Despite Multan going two points clear at the top with a 19-run win over Peshawar Zalmi, he was unable to add to his tally.

Here we analyse his performance at Dubai International Stadium.

    STATISTICS:

    Overs bowled: 4

    Wickets: 0

    Economy: 7.75

    Maidens: 0

    Runs conceded: 31

    Fours: 4

    Sixes: 0

    30-second report and key moments

For the first time in the competition, the Peshawar batsmen got the better of Tahir. Prior to this, he had picked up at least a wicket in each game he played but that wasn’t the case on Tuesday night. Brought in to bowl his first spell in the sixth over, ended with figures of 0-31. Fortunately for him, his team-mates managed to get the wickets with Sohail Tanvir (3-14) and Keiron Pollard (3-37) picking up the scalps.

     GOT RIGHT:

At a time when Liam Dawson and Mohammad Hafeez were beginning to pile on the runs, Tahir kept his cool in the 16th over, conceding six runs and more importantly not giving up a boundary.

VERDICT:  Six. Wasn’t as effective with the ball as he has been but didn’t need to be as his team-mates picked up key scalps. Expect him to showcase why he is the top wicket-taker with 10 scalps to date for the remainder of the tournament.
