  • Ahmed Raza (c) will not lead the team in Bangladesh.

Amjad Javed takes over the captaincy from Ahmed Raza in the shortest format, while Mohammad Naveed has earned a recall to the team after missing the UAE’s defeats to Netherlands in the I-Cup and World Cricket League last month.

From that squad, spinner Manjula Guruge misses out while Fahad Tariq has been promoted from the reserves having done enough to impress in Aaqib Javed’s side’s recent exploits against England Lions, Scotland and Ireland.

Playing in the qualifying tournament for the tournament proper, the UAE’s first game is against Afghanistan on Friday, before matches against  Hong Kong on Sunday and their third and final game, against Oman on the following Monday.

The winner of the qualifier pre-tournament will join India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh in the main event.

FULL SQUAD: Mohammad Kaleem, Rohan Mustafa, Shaiman Anwar, Mohammad Shahzad, Swapnil Patil (VC), Usman Mushtaq, Amjad Javed (C), Ahmed Raza, Zaheer Maqsood, Mohammad Naveed, Farhan Ahmed, Qadeer Ahmed, Mohammad Usman, Fahad Tariq, Saqlain Haider
