  • Fightback: Yogi Group’s victory in the T20 match swelled their points tally to 12

Yogi Group had mixed fortunes in their opening Group A match of the 1st Danube ‘Test Series’ against Grand Midwest (GMW) Royal at the ICC Academy ground, Dubai.

While Yogi came up short in the two-day encounter picking up just seven points against GMW’s 17, they made amends by winning the Twenty20 encounter against the same opponents on the second day yesterday.

The victory in the Twenty20 game fetched them five points which swelled their tally to 12.

Having restricted GMW to 299 on the first day, Yogi appeared to be on course when they resumed the second day on 68-2.

However, GMW struck back to leave them reeling at 102 for 5.

That was when Aniket Desai stepped up with a resolute 97 but it was not enough as they were bowled out for 254 – 45 short of overhauling GMW’s score which would have got them additional 10 points.

Yogi however got even in the T20 match notching a thumping 86-run win with Shehzad Manna (87) and captain Avadoot Amonkar (38 runs and three wickets) leading the way.
