  • Fantastic effort with the bat: Gul (r)

Carfare secured their quarter-final berth in the 13th Dulsco Ramadan tournament following a 70-run victory over Jumeirah Group.

Carfare exploited Jumeirah Group’s poor showing as they first put on 167-5 in 20 overs, and then restricted their rivals to 97-9 for their second successive victory of the tournament.

The match started on a bright note for Jumeirah Group as they reduced Carfare to 32-3 by the third over.

However, Azhar Gul scored the runs as wickets fell regularly around him.

Gul found useful support from Arif (10) as the pair took the score to 65 and gave some respectability to the Carfare innings. More wickets fell but that did not deter Gul as he hit the bowlers around the park. Gul remained not out on 77 with the help of three fours and four sixes in his 60-ball essay.

Chasing the target, Jumeirah Group lost both their openers by the fourth over with the score on just 27.

The rest of the batsmen failed to make any sort of impression and were dismissed cheaply as Carfare were restricted to 97-9 in 20 overs.
