India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin launches Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy at Kings' School Dubai

  • Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy’s Chief Mentor and Brand Ambassador Ravichandran Ashwin officially launched the academy open on his visit to Dubai and Kings’ School on Thursday October 19.

    Ashwin is the brand ambassador and chief mentor for the Gen-Next Kings Cricket Academy and will be personally involved in imparting his expertise to budding cricketers several times a year at Kings’ School.

    Ashwin said:“I am extremely delighted with the launch of Gen-Next Kings’ academy in Dubai. This partnership is definitely going to contribute to continuous improvement in coaching techniques with a flavour of innovation and drive to excel. Further this would open the door for the budding youngsters to be inspired by the current playing cricketers apart from learning the tricks of the trade and lessons the hard way.”

    The academy has been in operation from September 15 under the able leadership of Director of Cricket, Kobus Olivier who commented: “The partnership between Kings’ and Ashwin’s Gen-Next coaches is a special one. It only brings together the leaders in their respective fields, but is a marriage of aspirations. Kings’ is about producing balanced, talented, well-rounded and disciplined students. Ashwin is fully invested in coaching and making an impact on every child, as a father himself, he has a special connection with children.”

    Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy within their first month of operation serves over 50 boys and girls ranging from the age of 4 to 16 in the Evolve, Vision 2020 and High Performance Programs.

    Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy programs and especially the High Performance Program are designed by R.Ashwin derived from his playing experience at the international stage for over 10 years.

    The High Performance Program offered by Gen-Next Kings’ is a special program to prepare elite cricketers for the highest level. Gen-Next, Chennai since it’s inception have moulded numerous youngsters for the path of professional cricket.

    Gen-Next Kings’ in Dubai will look to emulate from its sister concern with the tried and tested program in a state of the art training environment with R.Ashwin at its helm monitoring progress of talent present in the system.

    Gen-Next Kings’ Cricket Academy in terms of facility boasts indoor as well as outdoor nets, astro-turf for matches, video analysis technology, bowling machine, fully equipped gymnasium and a cricket oval in Phase 2.

    In terms of faculty, Kobus Olivier is a Level 3 coach with a coaching experience of more than 20 years holding positions such as CEO Kenya Cricket and National Youth Coach for Holland cricket team.

    Arshad Mohammed and Colin Morris are the England Cricket Board Level 2 coaches heading the High Performance and Vision 2020 program respectively.

    On his visit R.Ashwin passed on his invaluable knowledge to the High Performance trainees as well as the Vision 2020 and Evolve (softball cricket) program trainees at the Kings’ School Al Barsha training center.

    R.Ashwin who is an ardent believer of shaping young lives also visited all of the 3 Kings’ Schools and interact with the students and teachers.
