The Lions side, very much the kings of indoor cricket at the ICC Academy, has been drawn in Pool A of the eight-team tournament while Fly Emirates, winners of the inaugural ACL in November and December 2011, is in Pool B.

The draw took place at the ICC Academy, with ICC Academy Manager Will Kitchen and Prohit Singh of Crystal Gallery – one of the sponsors of the tournament – overseeing it.

The fixtures will be determined later this week ahead of the start of the on-field action, with matches set to take place under the floodlights of the ICC Academy’s ovals from 22 February through to 20 March.

Pool A features Al Faraa, One Stop Tourism and the Alubond Tigers in addition to the Danube Lions, while Pool B features Fly Emirates as well as Grand Midwest, Interface and Ibsons.

Each side will play the others in its pool and the top two sides from those two pools will then qualify for the semi-finals ahead of the Grand Final.

It means all sides are guaranteed a minimum of three matches and with the winner receiving AED20,000 and the runner-up AED10,000 there is every incentive for teams to excel.

Entry to the Arabian Cricket League was open to all Dubai Cricket Council ‘A’ Division teams.

Dubai Sports City, Crystal Gallery, the Dubai Cricket Council and the Khaleej Times support the tournament.
