As one of the oldest cricket academies in the country, Cricket Maxway knows a thing or two about the sport having produced a number of players for the UAE.

And they will be able to pass on their knowledge during their camps from July 4 to August 26.

Al Nasr Sports Club, where Cricket Maxway hold regular coaching sessions, will host the outdoor programme, while United Pro Sports in Al Quoz, Dubai is the venue for the indoor camp.

“We have particularly chosen to hold camps at indoor and outdoor facilities given the locations of where they are in Dubai,” explained Sudhakar Shetty, head coach at Cricket Maxway. “People don’t have to travel far to get to one location, so they can choose the venue whichever is nearer to them.”

Camps will take place on Saturday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with outdoor classes between 17:00 and 18:30, while the indoor sessions are from 14:00 to 15:30.

Whether you’re new to the game or want to enhance your develop-ment, Shetty promises the youths will not be bored.

“They will be engaged with fitness, team-building activities, basic training and tournaments,” he said. “The children will be kept busy and the coaches will make sure the camp is exciting and fun for all.”

He added: “Technology and gadgets such as the Playstation, television, computers and social media has caused a worry among parents and Cricket Maxway provides children with the perfect avenue to be fit and have fun at the same time.”

The summer camps have proven to be a huge success since Cricket Maxway launched their version eight years ago and Shetty expects 2015 to be no different.

“It’s been hugely popular among the children and parents,” said Shetty. “Children have a lot of fun by playing tournaments and minigames as well as meeting new friends and they are fully supervised by coaches, who also love the sport.”

He added: “Every year we get new faces which is good to see. Last year we had around 15 people which is very encouraging because it allows us to spread the game in the UAE.”

With a few days remaining until the start of the camps, Shetty insisted it’s not one to be missed.

He said: “We are also doing a lot of new activities in promoting cricket in inter-school tournaments and we have gained a lot of trust plus it’s value for money. “We allow children to be engaged who are not going on vacation so it’s a summer of non-stop cricket.”
