Unicorn Real Estate got their Punjab Premier League campaign up and running as half-centuries from Zeeshan Akmal and Waqas Jatt guided them to victory over Red Flowers Tourism.

Chasing a daunting target of 186 at Ajman Oval, thanks to Yasir Kaleem’s 65, Unicorn got off to a poor start with openers Sajjad Ahmed (4) and Naseeb Khan (0) dismissed.

Waseem Saleem (30) steadied the chase but Akmal’s 72-run knock from 43 balls and Jatt’s 61-runs sealed a seven-wicket win.

The result put them on top of Pool One, with two points after losing their opener against Multiplex International.

Meanwhile, in Pool Two, Danube Lions, who were back in Twenty 20 action after playing the UAE in a two-day warm-up at ICC Academy, registered their first victory of the tournament.

After Rizwan Rauf’s 79 denied them a win against Team Interface in their first game, Danube were too strong for Advantage Motors.

Batting first, Danube got off to a slow start but UAE’s Asif Iqbal got the ball rolling with a patient 42 from 44 delivieries. He top-scored as Danube scored 144-7 in their 20 allotted overs.

In reply, Advantage Motors struggled with the bat. Losing wickets at regular intervals, Farhan Ahmed’s three-wicket haul wrapped up a 45-run victory as Danube moved to the top of the standings.

Earlier, Advantage Motors defeated Ibsons CC with Anwar Khan (66) leading with the bat as they chased 135 with eight wickets in hand. The on-going tournament is supported by Red Bull.
