  • Vaughan's role will be triple fold.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been appointed team director of the Capricorn Commanders in the T20 Cricket Masters Champions League.

Vaughan, who will also play for the franchise, was picked up by the Commanders in the pre-auction bid for the legends and helped form the teams auction strategy.

The role will be triple fold, with Vaughan also acting as the Capricorn head coach.

Vaughan will be joined by fellow former England international Usman Afzaal, who will serve as assistant coach.

Co-owner Parvez Khan, a Dubai-based businessman and owner of property developers Pacific Ventures, said: “Michael Vaughan and Usman Afzaal need no introduction in the world of cricket, and by having them play the sport once again in the UAE on our team, we hope to continue to share our passion for the sport.”

The Commanders’ ranks include two-time World Cup winner Andrew Symonds, Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, former England skipper Paul Collinwood, Sri Lanka’s Chamara Silva and South Africa’s Ashwell Prince and Rory Kleinveldt.
