This Friday’s Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road event starting at Dubai Sports City’s Rugby Zone has something for everyone.

There are three different courses, the presence of the UAE’s first professional cycling team and the chance to buy or sell bikes and second-hand sports equipment.
All that plus activities, entertainment, food and drink, and a raffle with more than Dh10,000 worth of prizes. And, best of all, taking part and attending is free.
The ride, being staged for the fifth time alongside the Dubai Sports Council as part of its Dubai Pulse activities that promote an active lifestyle, offers five and 10 kilometre courses that are suitable for the whole family.
And for those riders looking for a more testing environment, there is a 20 kilometre ride that will provide a real challenge.
Registration is free and can be done on the day from 07:00, an hour ahead of the scheduled start, or on line at www.thecyclehub.com.
All that is needed to take part is a bike and a helmet.
And as an added incentive to get involved, the SkyDive Dubai Pro Cycling Team, the United Arab Emirates’ first professional cycling team, will join the riders.
But even for those who might not fancy a Friday morning pedal about, there will be plenty to see and do.
There will be an opportunity to buy or sell second-hand cycling and sports equipment and those interested in getting involved with that part of the day can contact Klaus via email at [email protected].
And on top of that there will be activities, entertainment and refreshments in an event that is ideal for the whole family, as well as the raffle with a host of top giveaways.
The event has proved increasingly popular since its inception and has seen hundreds of riders and enthusiasts enjoying themselves at Dubai Sports City in previous editions.
The Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road is part of the Dubai Sports Council’s Dubai Pulse scheme that also involves walks, runs and swims as well as cycling at the new cycle track at Al Qudra, as part of its programme to make sport a lifestyle for Dubai residents.
Launched by the Dubai Sports Council in 2009, Dubai Pulse is designed for all segments of society and all nationalities.
Dubai Sports City president Khalid Al Zarooni, himself a keen cyclist, said: “Everyone here is looking forward to the Great Dubai Pulse Ride – Off Road this weekend.
It is a terrific and increasingly popular event that has seen up to 400 cyclists and more than 800 people attending what is a fun day on and off the bike.
“We have made a conscious effort to cater for families this time with two relatively short courses which will be fun to ride, but at the same time we have also retained the competitive element through the 20-kilometre course and we look forward to some serious cyclists once again taking up that challenge.
“The fact that members of the SkyDive Dubai Pro Cycling Team will be present and will join families on the shorter rides will add an extra fun element to proceedings and allow people to see for themselves what professional athletes look like and the bikes they ride.”
All riders who take part will receive a participation certificate.
