So who makes up this week’s top five?

    1) DAVID SILVA (Manchester City) – 8.60

This week’s top five is littered with sky blue and leading the charge is a rejuvinated David Silva. The Spaniard has been at the heart of City’s perfect start to the season and caused Watford no end of problems last weekend. Despite setting up Fernandinho’s goal with piece of sublime vision, and linking with Sterling like they have played together forever Silva’s most telling contribution was his ability to shift position, moving to the right after the departure of Jesus Navas.

    2) SERGIO AGUERO (Manchester City) – 8.19

By the Argentinian’s sky-high standards, two games without a goal represents a drought, but last season’s Golden Boot winner was still a menace without the ball and his darting runs kept Watford’s defence busy. Besides, with an in-form Silva, Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling alongside him, the goal-scoring burden is alleviated somewhat.

    3) VINCENT KOMPANY (Manchester City) – 8.10

Vincent Kompany was largely untroubled by Watford’s forwards but the burly Belgian looked solid and confident in defence – everything that he was not last season. With compatriot De Bruynes’ arrival at City this week set to give Kompany another boost, it looks as if the wall of blue will be difficult to break down this season.

    4) YAYA TOURE (Manchester City) – 7.95

Completing the Manchester City quartet is Yaya Toure and their fans will be pleased that the Ivorian is back to his best. With 81 complete passes, six duels won and four dribbles the midfielder was a commanding presence for his team in midfield and pulled the strings with aplomb.

Yaya Toure was at his battling best in Manchester City's midfield.

    5) NATHAN REDMOND (Norwich City) – 7.74

Redmond’s performance was a small highlight in what was a terrible day at the office for Norwich City, going down 3-0 to Southampton. Redmond relentlessly tracked-back to block service to Southampton’s Pelle but also found the energy to surge forward and support Jerome on attack.
