Al Habtoor brothers dominate Julius Bär Gold Cup Day Five

    Day 5 of action for the Julius Bär Gold Cup 2015, 18 goal handicap tournament was a great day for Al Habtoor´s brothers, Rashid and Mohammed.

    – Zedan Polo and UAE Polo Team win in second day of Julius Bär Gold Cup 2015

    Their teams, Mahra Polo and Julius Bär Team by Habtoor defeated Edrees (9-4) and Ghantoot (9-5) in an exciting polo day at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.

    Mahra had a great performance and after two “warming up” chukkas they pass through Edrees to beat them by 9 goals to 4.

    The foursome comprised of Rashid Al Habtoor, Guy Gibrat, Joaquín Pittaluga and Nacho González achieved their first victory in the tournament.

    Match Progression:

    Mahra: 1-0/ 2-1/ 5-2/ 8-3/ 9-4

    A great performance by Guillermo Cuitiño, MVP and top scorer of the match gave Julius Bär Team the victory against Ghantoot by 9 goals to 5.

    Cuitiño made himself a great birthday celebration by scoring the nine goals of his team in a new top scorer record in the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2015.

    Julius Bär Team played a great game against Ghantoot strong foursome. A great second chukka by patron Mohammed Al Habtoor team gave them a 3 goal lead to face the second half of the match with some calmness.

    Despite of a comeback by Ghantoot in the third chukka, Julius Bär Team hold up a great polo level in the following chukkas.

    A tremendous neck shot by Cuitiño in the first minutes of the fifth and last chukka gave Julius Bär a 3 goal gap that was increased to 4 in the last minute of the match thanks to another great goal by Julius Bär back player for the final 9-5 victory.

    Julius Bär Team: 1-0/ 4-1/ 4-3/ 6-4/ 9-5

    The Julius Bär Gold Cup will continue tomorrow with two simultaneous matches at 4pm.

    UAE Polo and Abu Dhabi will play at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.

    Desert Palm I and Desert Palm II will be playing at the same time at the Desert Palm Polo Club.
