  • Marco Reus celebrates scoring a Europa League hat-trick.

German side Borussia Dortmund crushed Odds BK 7-2 on Thursday to win a place in the 2015-16 UEFA Europa League group stage.

Coupled with a 4-3 win for Thomas Tuchel’s men last week, Dortmund ran out comfortable 11-5 winners on aggregate.

Marco Reus scored a hat-trick for the Bundesliga side, who were sparked into action after going down 1-0 in the first half. Shinji Kagawa netted twice, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ilkay Gundogan added one goal each.

Ole Jorgen Halvorsen gave Odds a short-lived lead with a 19th-minute header, and Oliver Berger added a second-half consolation.

Southampton were sent crashing out of Europe courtesy of a strike from FC Midtjylland‘s very own ‘Big Dunc’.

Former Celtic striker Morten Rasmussen was given the nickname ‘Duncan’ during his early years with AGF Aarhus as he reminded a coach of former Everton forward Duncan Ferguson with the Denmark international even sporting the moniker on the back of his shirt.

Southampton fell foul of poor refereeing decisions as their European adventure ended prematurely, according to their manager Ronald Koeman.

But instead of blaming his players, who have yet to taste victory in the Premier League this season, Koeman focused more on the officiating across both legs as he vented his frustrations at what he perceived to be poor decisions that hampered Southampton’s chances.
