  • From the sublime to the ridiculous, we’ve been treated to some stunning goals over the past 12 months from all corners of the globe.

Here, Sport360°, hand picks our favourites from 2012, each and every one of them an absolute belter in their own unique way. So sit back and enjoy!

First up is this stunning effort from Emmanuel Agyemang Badu who receives the ball on the edge of the box, flicks it up in the air and volleys home in Ghana’s match against Guinea. Great tekkers!

Up next, Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa runs the entire Blackburn defence ragged as he bursts forward from around the half-way line. His slalom dribbing is a joy to behold while the finish isn’t bad either!

Radamel Falcao is the most feared striker in world football at present. And rightly so judging by this acrobatic finish against America de Cali in a pre-season friendly. How long is it before we see this in the English Premier League?

The next goal in our list comes from the MLS. Vancouver Whitecaps’ Eric Hassli may not be a household name but he sure knows where the back of the net. Check out his unstoppable blink-and-you’ll-miss-it volley against Canadian rivals FC Toronto.

It’s not just the men who score spectacular goals. Oh no. Take a bow Olivia Jimenez who lit up Mexico’s Under-20 World Cup match against Switzerland with this long range beauty.

Remember Rene Higuita and his famous Scorpion Kick? Gaston Mealla from Bolivian side Nacional Potosi certainly does, adopting the technique to score this incredible goal. Surely the odds-on favourite for this year’s crown. A personal favourite.

No list is complete without the wonderful talent that is Lionel Messi. In Argentina’s friendly against arch-rivals Brazil, the Barcelona man takes the ball from deep beats a couple of players before unleashing an absolute peach of a finish to beat the Brazilian goalkeeper.

Another of world football’s rising talents and last year’s winner of the award Neymar makes his way onto this list. Picking up the ball against Internacional, the Santos man weaves his magic before delivering a sumptuous finish over the rushing goalkeeper. A truly special talent.

Fenerbache’s Moussa Sow manages to score from an almost impossible angle against bitter rivals Galatasary, with the ball behind him he twists his body and manages an unorthodox bicycle kick that finds the back of the net.

Another Fenerbache player and this time it is Miroslav Stoch against Genclerbirligi. A well worked corner finds Stoch one the edge of the box, and the former Chelsea youngster makes no mistake as he lashes a powerful volley home. Gaizka Mendieta-esque.

Montepellier were shock Ligue 1 champions in 2012, and in no small part to their little Moroccan playmaker Younes Belhanda. Easy to see why from this acrobatic effort why he’s being courted by top clubs in England.

If you thought was good, then Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s effort against England is from another stratosphere. The self proclaimed best footballer in the world can also lay claim to scoring the best goal EVER… arguably of course.

A lovely bit of improvision here from the wonderfully named Jackson Martinez. Expect to here a lot more of the Colombian striker in 2013 and with goals like this. No wonder.

Followers of the English Premier League since its inception in 1992 will fondly remember the exploits of Tony Yeboah. Stoke’s Cameron Jerome certainly does and did his best impression in his side’s recent 3-3 draw with Southampton. What a hit son.

AND FINALLY… We’ve already featured one Falcao, but here’s another. Sublime. Ridiculous. And our goal of 2012…
