  • Carlo Ancelotti has lauded Mario Balotelli, calling him a “great player”, but insists Paris Saint-Germain have no interest in signing the controversial Manchester City striker.

Balotelli’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since his training ground bust-up with City boss Roberto Mancini last week with a January exit from the Etihad Stadium mooted.

A return to Italy is seen as the most likely outcome with both former club Inter Milan and city rivals AC linked with moves, while Qatar-owned PSG have also been credited with an interest.

However, having just added Brazilian sensation Lucas Moura to an enviable attacking line-up already boasting talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Ezequiel Lavezzi, Ancelotti insists there is no room for the maverick Italian.

“Today, with Ibra and his position, we are covered in attack for many years to come. I do not think we need Balotelli,” said Ancelotti. “Balotelli is a great player, he and Ibra are compatible but that is not the question. We have (Ezequiel) Lavezzi, (Kevin) Gameiro and (Jeremy) Menez who are also compatible.”

Despite Mancini’s insistance that Balotelli would be given “100 more chances”, rumours persist that the striker will be on his way sooner rather than later with AC Milan mooted as his most likely destination.

The Rossoneri last week sold Alexandre Pato to Corinthians while they remain in talks with Santos over the sale of Robinho back to his former club.

Should the former Maanchester City man seal his exit then speculation will invariably heighten over Balotelli becoming his replacement at the San Siro.
