  • Having watched the Sport360° office get torn apart as we debated our relative Premier League Teams of the Year, we could not pass up the opportunity to ask a current Premier League player for his.

So in a recent chat with Wigan and Oman goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi we did exactly that and the below XI is the result.

We’re not completely sure whether we agree or whether we buy his assertion that Rio Ferdinand has had a “brilliant” season but who are we to judge?

Deposed champions Manchester City may have only had one representative – Pablo Zabaleta – in the PFA Team of the Year, but Al Habsi has opted to choose FOUR members of Roberto Mancini’s squad.

Rather unsurprisingly there is no room for any of the Omani stopper’s Wigan team-mates, although someone standing by his side did seem to be trying to cajole him into picking Shaun Maloney.

Check out Ali Habsi’s team below and compare it with our own writers’ choices. But who do you agree with? Let us know.

Ali Al Habsi’s Premier League Team of the Year… (4-2-3-1): De Gea (Man Utd); Zabaleta (Man City), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Kompany (Man City), Baines (Everton); Yaya Toure (Man City), Carrick (Man Utd); Suarez (Liverpool), Aguero (Man City), Bale (Tottenham); van Persie (Man Utd)
