  • A stoppage-time strike from the substitute Kelvin handed Porto a 2-1 home win over fierce rivals Benfica and reduced the match commentator to tears!

The Brazilian’s strike in the second minute of injury time sent the home fans inside the Estadio do Dragao into ecstasy as victory catapulted their side one point above Benfica in the table with just one match to play this season.

Both teams were undefeated going into the penultimate game of the campaign and it looked set to remain that way, with Benfica retaining two point cushion from second-placed Porto, until Kleber struck.

Benfica coach Jorge Jesus sunk to his knees in despair while the commentator, caught up in the hysteria and chaos that ensued, was moved to tears.

It had all began so brightly for Benfica when they opened the scoring in the 20th minute – Lima firing in from firing in from close range after Ezequiel Garay’s effort had been deflected into his path.

Porto hit back almost immediately as Silvestre Varela’s low cross deflected off the Benfica right-back Maxi Pereira and into the net, before Kleber struck to send the home fans delirious.

Porto can now clinch a third consecutive league title with victory over third-placed Paços de Ferreira on the final day while Benfica must beat second from bottom Moreirense and hope their rivals slip up.

Before then though Benfica have the small matter of a Europa League final against Chelsea in Amsterdam next Wednesday. Quite how the pick themselves up after the drama of Saturday night, remains to be seen.
