  • One for the future: Ajax boss De Boer alongside Jay-Jay in the press conference.

Ajax have fulfilled the lifelong dream of a seriously ill eight-year-old fan by signing him for the the first team.

After hearing that Jay-Jay Willems was suffering with irritable bowel syndrome, the Dutch club's foundation decided to create a video of the youngster being scouted, presented to the press and then debuting against NAC Breda.

In the minute and a half clip, Jay-Jay meets manager Frank de Boer, before being whisked away to the Amsterdam Arena where he pulls on the iconic red and white strip of Ajax in the dressing room.

De Boer also presents the eight-year-old to the media in the video, explaining that the young winger had caught his attention during training.

"I would like to introduce a new player. Jay-Jay is a left forward and during training he got our attention. With his qualities we think he eventually can play with the first team," says the Ajax boss.

Even Dutch television's Fox News appear in this heartwarming clip, with one of their pundits having some encouraging words for Jay-Jay.

"Look at this guy from Ajax. Jay-Jay is a fast, smart, roguish player. He knows a lot about football, you can see that in the way he moves," he says.

"Pay attention to this little guy, another hero is born at Ajax, Jay-Jay Willems."

The Ajax foundation aim to give sick children days they will never forget and for Jay-Jay they most certainly have.
