  • Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s scorpion kick goal in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Sunderland on Boxing Day has been the talk of the Premier League.

How does the Armenian’s spectacular effort match up against some of the other scorpion kick goals in recent years?

First, here’s a look at the United man’s strike that sent Old Trafford into raptures.

Below are five other such goals including one from Mkhitaryan’s United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.

    CHARLES-EDOUARD CORIDON | PSG | 2004

Coridon is remembered for two things; turning down the French national team to play his international football for Martinique and THAT goal against FC Porto in the Champions League.

    ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC | PSG | 2014

Acrobatic efforts are trademark Ibrahimovic. The Swede has a black-belt in taekwondo and takes every opportunity to utilise those skills on the football pitch. This scorpion kick goal against Bastia in Ligue 1 is a prime example.

    ALEXANDRE COEFF | FRANCE U-20 | 2013

Currently on loan to Ligue 2 side Brest, the 24-year-old will fondly remember his moment in the spotlight four years ago when he scored this audacious goal for France against the United States at the Toulon Tournament.

    EDINSON CAVANI | NAPOLI | 2011

Every hat-trick needs a spectacular goal and this was it for Edinson Cavani when he demolished Juventus back in 2011.

    SIMON SKRABB | ATVIDABERGS FF | 2015

Kristian Bergstrom’s cross into the Gefle penalty area was turned in magnificently by Skrabb. The goal was nominated for the 2015 Puskas award.
