    WAYNE ROONEY

Stoke are preparing a surprise bid to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, according to the Daily Mirror.

The £45 million (Dh211m) package will be part funded by Stoke sponsors Bet365 with boss Mark Hughes said to be keen on bringing in United’s record goalscorer.

Rooney has one year left on his deal at Old Trafford and has said previously the only Premier League sides he would play for are United and boyhood club Everton.

    RATING: 3/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: You can’t fault Stoke for their ambition but no matter the money on the table, it would be difficult to persuade the 31-year-old to buy into their project.

He’s already rejected a big-money move to the Chinese Super League in January and it would seem a return to Goodison Park, should they be able to fund it, would be his most desired switch.

    MICHAEL KEANE

Manchester United want to get their business done as early as possible and the Daily Mail have reported that Jose Mourinho has urged the Old Trafford board to move quick and sign the Burnley defender.

The 24-year-old is seen as one of the most promising young English talents and have been left short of options defensively, Mourinho is keen to seal a £24m (Dh112m) deal.

United are the front runners to re-sign the player they sold three years ago but Liverpool are also said to be interested.

    RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT:  Speed has not always been executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward’s best quality when it comes to getting deals done but if Mourinho does indeed want his man, he’ll get him.

Keane is a boyhood United fan and he will like he has unfinished business at Old Trafford. Burnley are resigned to losing the defender if the fee is right so it seems like this is one won’t have too many complications.

    ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC

Keeping with the heavy United theme and it’s not a transfer rumour as such but it looks like the Swede could be staying at Old Trafford.

A piece on the Daily Mail says he is ready to sit down and discuss an extension having ruled out a move to the MLS.

The 35-year-old, who will be out of contract in June, has a one-year contract extension on the table but is currently rehabilitating a long-term injury after rupturing his cruciate ligaments.

    RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: His agent Mino Raiola says talks with United will take place soon after he confirmed Ibrahimovic will remain in Europe.

If that’s the case, it’s likely we’ll see him remain at Old Trafford with Mourinho no doubt desperate to lean on his experience with Rooney likely to leave in the summer.

    BENAJMIN MENDY

Manchester City face a fight to sign the Monaco left-back with RMC Sport in France suggesting Liverpool have joined the hunt to secure his services.

Pep Guardiola has already done business with the Ligue 1 champions after sealing a switch for Bernardo Silva but it looks their business won’t end there.

But with Jurgen Klopp in the market to sure up his leaky backline and the left side of his defence a particular area of weakness, Mendy has emerged as a target.

    RATING: 4/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: It’s no surprise Monaco’s talented team is in danger of being ripped apart by Europe’s elite and Mendy was one of their standout performers last season.

It seems like all signs are pointing to City though, who are willing to meet Monaco’s £38m  (Dh178m) and already enjoy a positive relationship with the French club after the Silva deal.
