    BENJAMIN MENDY

The Monaco left-back’s proposed move to Manchester City is reportedly on the verge of collapse after the two clubs failed to come to an agreement over a fee.

According to L’Equipe, Premier League rivals Liverpool are now firmly back in the race to sign the £40million-rated 22 year old with Chelsea also keeping an eye on the situation.

    RATING: 6/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Jurgen Klopp is desperate to fill the left-back spot which was filled by midfielder James Milner last season but if the huge fee put City off, it’s difficult to see how that encourages Liverpool.

City’s desire for full-backs this summer is even more drastic than their rivals and given Mendy is one of their top targets it’s difficult to imagine him ending up at anywhere but the Etihad Stadium.

    DANI ALVES

The Juventus defender has been persistently linked with a move away from last season’s Champions League finalists but Manchester City are set to sign the 34-year-old, according to Goal.com.

Pep Guardiola is in the market for four new full-backs this summer and the right-sided defender is on the verge of becoming their third signing with a £5million deal thought to be close to completion.

    RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Goal’s Man City correspondent Sam Lee is ordinarily pretty reliable and it’s a move which makes perfect sense for both Alves and the Premier League side.

The Brazilian has long talked about playing in England and for Guardiola reuniting with one of the key men from his time at Barcelona will not just bring experience on the pitch but off it, too.

    CRISTIANO RONALDO

Paris Saint-Germain are readying a bid to make Cristiano Ronaldo the most expensive player ever, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Ligue 1 giants are known admirers of the Portugal captain and are said to be in talks with his agent Jorge Mendes as they prepare to offer Real Madrid €140million while putting together a €30million per year package for the 32-year-old.

    RATING: 6/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Buckle up because the Real winger is going to be in the news every single hour of every single day if this melodrama goes on.

It’s still difficult to envisage Ronaldo leaving, although, the Mirror have reported today that he told his former boss at Man United, Sir Alex Ferguson, six weeks ago he wanted to leave the Bernabeu. The saga continues.
