CRISTIANO RONALDO

According to the Daily Mirror, Man United are planning to offer £175million plus David De Gea to re-sign Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal skipper has made clear his intentions to leave Spain this summer while De Gea has been persistently linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

RATING: 1/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Of all the Ronaldo rumours floating around there this has to be one of the most absurd. United have been strongly linked with signing Real forward Alvaro Morata and if the Spain international was included in this deal then perhaps it makes sense.

But this package for a 32-year-old seems outlandish even by United’s standards. Besides the point, when did the last proposed swap deal of this magnitude become a reality? They never happen!

THOMAS LEMAR

The Monaco man is in high demand with four leading European clubs in the race to secure his services, according to Telefoot.

Tottenham and Arsenal are known admirers while Liverpool and Serie A champions Juventus are also said to be weighing up a summer bid for the 21-year-old.

RATING: 7/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: The Frenchman’s agent is apparently due to talk with Spurs and Arsenal this week as a £30million deal will reportedly be enough to persuade the Principality side to part with another key talent.

Juventus are noted with an interest because they will turn their attentions to Lemar should they fail to sign Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich while Jurgen Klopp is known to in the market for a pacey winger this summer.

GERARD DEULOFEU

Barcelona will exercise their buy-back option to re-sign their former winger from Everton.

The Liverpool Echo report a fee of £10.5million with sources in Spain indicating new Barca boss Ernesto Valverde will move Lionel Messi into midfield to accommodate Deulofeu.

RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Deulofeu spent the majority of last season on loan at AC Milan were he recovered to show some of his best form having found first-team opportunities at Goodison Park limited.

His pace, movement and trickery on the left wing has no doubt caught the attention of Valverde and given Ronald Koeman was happy to leave him out of his plans last season, Everton will likely be happy to take the cash.

Just don’t be so sure on the reports of Messi being moved to shoehorn him into the starting XI.

David Villa

David Villa scored twice to lift New York City FC to a 2-1 win Saturday over the Seattle Sounders, becoming the fifth fastest player in MLS history to reach 50 career goals.

The reigning MLS MVP Villa needed just 78 games to score 50 goals as he leads all MLS players with 14 multi-goal games since he joined the league two years ago.

The contest was played in a driving rain at Yankee Stadium but that didn’t deter Villa as he now has 51 total goals.

The deluge in New York began about 45 minutes before kickoff, and the rains continued throughout the match causing players to slide and lose their balance on the soft pitch.

Villa, who hadn’t scored in three weeks, got the game winner in the 77th minutes, as he knocked it in from the left side of the box.

Villa got No. 50 early in the second half on a penalty kick. Cristian Roldan put Seattle up 1-0 in the 40th minute.

NYCFC controlled most of the first half, but their only real chance came in the first minute of extra time when Villa’s shot off a deflected ball caromed off the crossbar.

NYCFC will host the New York Red Bulls on June 24.

BENJAMIN MENDY

The Monaco left-back’s proposed move to Manchester City is reportedly on the verge of collapse after the two clubs failed to come to an agreement over a fee.

According to L’Equipe, Premier League rivals Liverpool are now firmly back in the race to sign the £40million-rated 22 year old with Chelsea also keeping an eye on the situation.

RATING: 6/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Jurgen Klopp is desperate to fill the left-back spot which was filled by midfielder James Milner last season but if the huge fee put City off, it’s difficult to see how that encourages Liverpool.

City’s desire for full-backs this summer is even more drastic than their rivals and given Mendy is one of their top targets it’s difficult to imagine him ending up at anywhere but the Etihad Stadium.

DANI ALVES

The Juventus defender has been persistently linked with a move away from last season’s Champions League finalists but Manchester City are set to sign the 34-year-old, according to Goal.com.

Pep Guardiola is in the market for four new full-backs this summer and the right-sided defender is on the verge of becoming their third signing with a £5million deal thought to be close to completion.

RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Goal’s Man City correspondent Sam Lee is ordinarily pretty reliable and it’s a move which makes perfect sense for both Alves and the Premier League side.

The Brazilian has long talked about playing in England and for Guardiola reuniting with one of the key men from his time at Barcelona will not just bring experience on the pitch but off it, too.

CRISTIANO RONALDO

Paris Saint-Germain are readying a bid to make Cristiano Ronaldo the most expensive player ever, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Ligue 1 giants are known admirers of the Portugal captain and are said to be in talks with his agent Jorge Mendes as they prepare to offer Real Madrid €140million while putting together a €30million per year package for the 32-year-old.

RATING: 6/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Buckle up because the Real winger is going to be in the news every single hour of every single day if this melodrama goes on.

It’s still difficult to envisage Ronaldo leaving, although, the Mirror have reported today that he told his former boss at Man United, Sir Alex Ferguson, six weeks ago he wanted to leave the Bernabeu. The saga continues.
