  • A late lapse in concentration by Jordan Pickford cost Everton.

Liverpool claimed the bragging rights in the 230th Merseyside Derby on Friday night, beating Everton 2-1 in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

It was a frustrating night for Sam Allardyce’s men and here is how the Toffees rated at Anfield:

    EVERTON (4-3-3)

JORDAN PICKFORD: The Blues’ player of the season had a shocker late on to gift Liverpool a passage through to the fourth round, coming out to punch away corner but getting beaten to ball by Virgil van Dijk. 5

CUCO MARTINA: Looked ill at ease dealing with movement of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and overlap of Joe Gomez. Further evidence Everton need a natural left-back in defence. 5

PHIL JAGIELKA: Veteran did his best to marshal defence on return to side and held things together, without being truly tested by Roberto Firmino. Exceptional to tee-up Sigurdsson for equaliser. 6

MASON HOLGATE: Penalty decision was harsh but youngster showed inexperience by holding onto Adam Lallana’s shirt needlessly when he should have stood his ground. Lost his cool completely and was lucky to stay on the pitch. 5

JONJOE KENNY: Linked up well with Bolasie on the right, boyhood Evertonian showed plenty of endeavour and determination but needs better end product. 6

MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN: Passenger in midfield, seems to have lost that trademark aggression and ability to break things up with regularity in the middle. 5

JAMES MCCARTHY: Earned start off back of impressive substitute showing against Manchester United but game passed him by. 5

WAYNE ROONEY: Challenge on Gomez could have resulted in a red on a frustrating night for 32-year-old. Needs to keep captain’s armband permanently over Jagielka. Taken off on 52 minutes. 5

YANNICK BOLASIE: Everton’s star man. Provided a firm threat down the right with pace, trickery and willingness to take on Liverpool’s backline. Just needs more minutes on the pitch to get back to his best. 8

GYLFI SIGURDSSON: Put in a real shift and worked hard for the team, with his superb finish being just reward. Has ability to influence game with undoubted class. 7

DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN: Isolated up front and his static positioning played into hands of the Liverpool defence.

ADEMOLA LOOKMAN ON FOR ROONEY IN 52TH MINUTE: Involved in the goal and looked bright. 6

OUMAR NIASSE ON FOR CALVERT-LEWIN IN 82ND MINUTE: Barely had an impact. 4

TOM DAVIES ON FOR JAMES MCCARTHY IN 86TH MINUTE: No time to have his say on match. 4
