  • Neymar could be out for two months with a metatarsal fracture.

Neymar could be out of action until May after Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that the Brazilian star has suffered a fractured metatarsal along with the ankle sprain which saw him stretchered off during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Marseille.

The 26-year-old will reportedly require surgery, and rushing back a return could jeopardise his fitness ahead of this year’s World Cup in Russia. Brazil’s first fixture is on June 17 against Switzerland.

PSG have not confirmed whether Neymar will go under the knife, releasing only a short statement confirming the specifics of his injury.

However, given the fractured metatarsal, it seems surgery is Neymar’s only option.

He will now certainly miss the Ligue 1 leaders’ crucial Champions League tie against Real Madrid next week, with PSG looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg.
