  • Arsenal will resurrect their bid for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila after Alex Song completed his transfer to Barcelona but face competition from two other clubs according to Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi.

Speculation had been rife earlier in the summer that M’Vila was on his way to the Emirates Stadium but Arsenal’s interest waned after reports emerged of the 22-year-old’s indiscipline during France’s Euro 2012 campaign.

However, Dreossi has said that Arsenal is still a possible destination for M’Vila but with Tottenham and Zenit St Petersburg also rumoured to be circling, the Gunners will have to pay around £15million to be in with a chance of signing the Frenchman.

“For the moment, there are three offers”, Dreossi told French radio station RMC.

“There is no agreement. We enter negotiations this week and hope to find a solution.

“Arsenal? Maybe, you’ll have to call Arsene Wenger. I think Arsenal will look for a player in this position. He could go there or to a club which sells Arsenal a player.”

Arsenal want to complete the signing of Nuri Sahin though reports suggest negotiations for the Real Madrid midfielder have stalled and Arsene Wenger could turn to M’Vila if Sahin’s loan deal falls through.

Despite being continually linked with a transfer away from Rennes, M’Vila insists he is happy to stay at the club.

“In France we have until September 4th [when the transfer window closes]”, M’Vila told Sport 24 last week.

“If I have to stay with Rennes for another year, I’ll stay – if I go, that is life – but whilst I am here, I am 100 per cent focused.”
