  • Ittihad Kalba have wasted little time in naming a successor to Dragan Talajic with the appointment of former Emirates boss Lotfi Benzarti.

Kalba have turned to the Tunisian tactician after dispensing of the services of Croatian Talajic on Monday just four games into the new campaign.

Talajic, 47, became the first managerial casualty of the season following Kalba’s embarrassing 6-0 Pro League defeat to Al Wahda last week, a result that condemned the club to a fourth successive defeat.

Fujairah-based Kalba gained promotion to the Pro League after being crowned Division One champions last season, but have failed to register a single goal in their opening three league games while suffering a 4-2 reverse to Al Wasl in the Etisalat Cup.

Benzarti has been drafted in despite failing to maintain Emirate’s top-flight status after their disppointing showing in last month’s promotion playoffs.

The Tunisian, who also managed Bani Yas in the 2009-10 season, will be on the bench for the first time this weekend when Kalba travel to Al Dhafra for their Etisalat Cup encounter.
