  • Back in black and white: Ibrahim Diaky (r) is back at former club Al Jazira.

Al Ain have confirmed veteran midfielder Ibrahim Diaky and right-back Mohammed Fawzi will leave the club with the pair expected to complete moves to rival Arabian Gulf League giants Al Jazira.

Diaky has already agreed a return to Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, where he previously spent eight years before a three-year stint in the Garden City began in 2013.

The 34-year-old has been involved in pre-season training with the Pride of Abu Dhabi, despite a lack of official confirmation of his transfer by either club.

UAE defender Fawzi, 26, is expected to follow him to the capital city but his likely transfer has been held up by the Whites’ month-long trip to Spain, which culminates on August 10.

The Boss tweeted confirmation of Diaky and Fawzi’s impending exits on Wednesday night and also revealed the squad for the pre-season tour of Austria – neither player was included.

“Mohammed Fawzi and Ibrahim Diaky will leave the team and I must commend the efforts they have made for Al Ain during the period which they have been associated with the club,” said Al Ain team supervisor Mohammed Obaid Hammad.

The club also confirmed veteran defensive midfielder Yaser Matar has extended his contract, while denying rumours that defender Khaled Abdulrahman or winger Rashed Essa would be sold.

Meanwhile, Jazira unveiled new signings Humaid Ahmed and Salem Abdulla at their pre-season training base in the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Box-to-box midfielder Ahmed, 28, was brought in from relegated Fujairah, while 30-year-old midfielder Abdulla joins from Al Wasl.
