Coach Theo Bucker’s belated exit has not absolved anyone at Emirates Club from the responsibility of turning around their woeful season, according to star striker Sebastian Saez.

Bucker, 68, departed by mutual consent on Sunday with the winless Falcons sitting bottom of the Arabian Gulf League-table with only three points accrued from 10 games.

This poor form since the German was controversially snatched from Dibba Al Fujairah in the summer has continued a long downwards curve, which saw the Ras Al Khaimah-outfit stay up by a point last term.

Tunisian Noureddine Obaidi has begun his spell as interim replacement. For Saez, he believes the responsibility is shared throughout the team to escape the relegation zone.

“Everybody is under pressure,” said the Argentine, who moved onto a creditable five goals in 10 AGL games during Saturday’s terminal 3-2 home loss to Sharjah.

“The team is not in a good position in the table. Of course, this is football.

“If you don’t have good results, then everybody is under pressure.

“I feel bad, because the team is in a bad position.

“We don’t find a solution in these bad moments, as we have only a few points.”

Attention has now centred on plotting a path forward. The Falcons travel to fellow strugglers Ittihad Kalba on Thursday, with defeat for either side inflicting substantial damage.

Obaidi looks likely to be in charge for several matches, which is a step-up from the kind of backroom roles which saw him employed as assistant to Dr Abdullah Misfer at Bani Yas at the end of 2015/16.

He said: “I thank the club for the confidence. I follow Mr Bucker, who accepted what happened and this shows his professionalism.

“I’m here to respect my word, and I trust our players to provide everything they have for the benefit of Emirates Club.”

Saez has arrived with a pedigree of firing sides to safety. He performed the task brilliantly at Qatar Stars League-strugglers Al Wakrah for the previous three campaigns, scoring 45 times in 76 games.

“Yes, I hope to do the same job,” the 31-year-old said. “Emirates brought me in to help the team.

“I want to do a good performance in the team and help the team stay in the first division.

“I try to score the maximum amount of goals to help the team. But I haven’t helped the team to win any game.

“For me, it is not important if I score but the team loses. I want to score and see the team win.”
