  • Staying in the UAE: Ciel with Dibba Al Fujairah officials (Dibba).

Veteran Brazilian forward Ciel is set for another campaign in the Arabian Gulf League after strugglers Dibba Al Fujairah snapped him up.

Ciel, 35, scored a fine 11 times in 21 games during 2016/17 as yo-yo club Ittihad Kalba suffered relegation by a slender margin.

He became a free agent after this disappointing conclusion, meaning he was available to ink a one-season deal with the Fishermen.

Bar a short spell back in his native country at Ceara from July-October 2016, the attacker has spent the last six-and-a-half years in the UAE. This included prior periods with Al Shabab and Al Ahli.

Dibba have been active since they narrowly stayed up a fortnight ago.

They have also renewed the contracts of Brazilian coach Paulo Comelli and Jordan winger Yaseen Al Bakhit, plus recruited ex-Al Shaab and Emirates Club striker Alassane Diallo of Senegal.

Ciel – whose arrival leaves one spot potentially vacant in the four-player foreign quota – represents their standout business.

The dynamic attacker scored 27 goals in 51 top-flights games for Shabab from January 2011-August 2013, also winning the 2010/11 Arabian Gulf Cup. Ciel would then go on to claim the 2013/14 and 2015/16 AGL titles at Ahli, plus the 2013/14 League Cup.

Even though his time there was severely curtailed by a double ankle fracture in September 2014, he exited last June with 17 strikes in 39 AGL run-outs.

Dibba have avoided the drop by slim margins in the last two seasons since they earned promotion.
