  • Journeyman: Nelson Valdez has played for numerous clubs, including Valencia (pictured).

Paraguay international Nelson Valdez has joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt from the UAE's Al Jazira on a two-year deal, the German club has confirmed.

The move marks the end of a torrid time in the UAE for Valdez and the striker follows Felipe Caicedo out of the Abu Dhabi club.

Since leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2010, the 30-year-old had spells at Hercules, Rubin Kazan and Valencia before making the move to the Arabian Gulf League last year.

In his lone season at Jazira, Valdez scored four goals in 12 league appearances before being shipped out on loan to Greek outfit Olympiacos.

His Greek Super League spell proved to be successful with the Paraguayan registering six goals in 10 games.

Speaking to the club's official website, Frankfurt sporting director Bruno Hubner, said: "With Nelson Valdez, we have a player for Eintracht Frankfurt who brings a lot of experience.

"He has worked with [coach] Thomas Schaaf already [at Werder Bremen], very successfully. We look forward to working together."

That partnership with Frankfurt boss Schaaf at Werder saw the pair complete the league and cup double in 2004.

Valdez's future at Jazira had been in doubt after the arrival of Mirko Vucinic and Jonathan Pitroipa had effectively ended his chances of playing time.
