  • Set-piece master: Nawaf Mubarak (white) will further bolster Al Ahli's midfield.

Al Ahli have bolstered their squad by signing Bani Yas midfielder Nawaf Mubarak, who is set to catch up with the Red Knights this week in Italy, where they are stationed for their preseason training.

The move is part of a swap deal with Bani Yas, who in return have acquired the services of UAE Olympic team player Mohammed Darwish.

The 32-year-old Mubarak, known for his dangerous set-piece deliveries, has signed a two-year contract with the Arabian Gulf League champions.

“I’m happy to be wearing the Ahli crest – a team associated with championships and trophies,” Mubarak said on Ahli’s official website. “It’s a great honour for me to join this group of star players and to play under a great coach like Cosmin (Olaroiu). I will put all my efforts into delivering the best I can so I can please the club’s fans.”

Mubarak netted six times in all competitions for Bani Yas last season and impresssed with 12 goals in 29 matches the year before. Prior to his three seasons with Al Samawi, Mubarak played for Sharjah from 2009 to 2011.
