  • On a roll: Henrique Luvannor (l) scored his sixth goal of the season.

Al Shabab continued their fine start to the Arabian Gulf League with a thrilling 3-2 away to Emirates Club, a game in which the two sides exchanged the lead three times.

Henrique Luvannor’s sixth goal of the season gave Shabab the lead after 18 minutes but the home side responded superbly and equalised through Alhusain Saleh Easa Ali 20 minutes later.

After heading into the interval level, Emirates then went ahead early in the second-half.

Luiz Henrique’s effort looked to have given them all three points before two goals in two minutes turned the game on its head.

First, Carlos Villanueva equalised for the visitors in the 78th minute and then Haydarov Azizbek struck to secure Shabab their fifth win out of seven so far this season.

The result sends Shabab second while Emirates remain in eighth place.

In Monday's early kick-off, Al Wahda reasserted their position at the top of the AGL by beating Fujairah 1-0.

Amer Omar’s fifth minute goal returned Wahda to winning ways, extending their unbeaten start to the season to eight games.

Fujairah, meanwhile, remain third from bottom with just six points from their opening seven matches and Iraqi coach Abdulwahab Abdulqadir is under pressure to turn things around less than two months since his appointment.
