  • Upgrade: Michiel Kramer.

Bani Yas will imminently complete the drawn-out signing of giant ADO Den Haag striker Michiel Kramer after officials travelled to his native Netherlands for a pre-season training camp as part of the Sky Blues delegation.

Kramer, 26, arrived in Abu Dhabi on July 6 to undergo a medical and final negotiations on a three-year deal. But confirmation about the transfer for the 2014/15 joint-third-highest Eredivisie top scorer has yet to arrive.

This will change in the coming days with first-team manager Mohammed Aida Al Minhali heading a party that landed in the European country yesterday along with coach Luis Garcia’s squad.

“Bani Yas are now in the Netherlands,” director Jan Willem Wigt told omroepwest.nl. “This deal will be finalised very soon – that’s best for all three parties.”

Kramer represents a notable upgrade on released front man Denis Stracqualursi. His 17 goals last term in a struggling Den Haag side exhibited promise.

The Sky Blues are keen to improve dramatically on their eighth-placed AGL finish. They have taken a measured-but-impressive approach to the market thus far, only landing key Australia midfielder Mark Milligan.

At least one more spot in their four-player foreign quota is open but Spanish playmaker Joan Verdu’s future remains unclear ahead of a potential total clearout.

Bani Yas next head to Spain prior to the AGL’s restart from August 20.
