  • Eyeing goals: Wilmar Jordan.

Ambitious Emirates Club new boy Wilmar Jordan has set his sights on becoming the Arabian Gulf League’s top scorer.

Jordan, 24, signed up with the Falcons last week from Chinese Super League-outfit Tianjin Teda as they sought a powerful striker to lead the line. He made a solid impression on debut at Al Nasr on Friday, setting the platform during a narrow 2-1 loss in the Arabian Gulf League’s opening round.

The Colombian was the leading marksman with former club Litex Lovech in Bulgaria’s 2013/14 A Group and he planned to replicate this success in the Middle East.

He said: “I am seeking to compete for the title of top scorer in the league.

“I have acclimatised to the atmosphere and found a warm welcome. The work environment in the UAE is a healthy one and through the few days I have spent here I felt I was in a big club.

“I feel happy about my decision to come here.”

Fellow fresh face Rodrigo Pimpao performed adeptly at Al Maktoum Stadium, the forward’s driving run setting up Haidar Alo Ali’s shock opener for last term’s 11th-placed finishers.

“I want to express my satisfaction with the development of the club and pay tribute to my colleagues,” said the 27-year-old, who joined on a one-year deal from Botafogo. “The atmosphere is very good.

“I am ready to provide my all for the team and help the Falcons to reach to what it wants.”
