  • Braga is under pressure at Jazira.

Veteran defender Juma Abdulla believes one positive result is all it takes to spark Al Jazira’s dreary season into life.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi have not won in six games, a run stretching back nearly two months, and they are rooted to the foot of the Arabian Gulf Cup Group B table following no wins in three matches.

The 33-year-old centre back says the players and coaching staff at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium are united during this crisis as they travel to take on third-placed Sharjah on Tuesday.

“One win and it could turn around,” said Abdulla.

“This happens to footballers and football clubs. As players results help you, so now we need a result. We need a win to come back.

“We have had bad results and haven’t played very well but when we start winning everything will become better. We need a win to put this bad feeling away.”

Head coach Abel Braga is under pressure following an underwhelming start to his second tenure in the capital, but Abdulla insists the club will come through this dark period.

“All the team is together. The manager, the players, the coaches, we are all together,” said Abdulla.

“We need to all be together, especially at this moment. It is a bad moment for the club, so we should be together to get through it.”

Despite differing fortunes in the league, Al Ain are also struggling in the AG Cup. Zlatko Dalic’s side are a point above Jazira in sixth following three straight draws.

“Our chances in the competition for one of the two qualifying spots is not great,” said Dalic, whose team visit Fujairah.

“However, we should confront the challenge ahead to emerge with two wins during the next two matches with Fujairah and Dibba Al Fujairah.

“Our goal is to win the three points in an effort to improve our place in the table and to qualify.”
