  • On the move: Pellegrini.

Former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has become the latest big name coach to join the Chinese Super League, taking the reins at Hebei China Fortune.

The Chilean succeeds former Everton player Li Tie, who had taken the side to fifth in the league after a promotion in 2015.

However, following massive pre-season expenditure on the likes of Gervinho, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Stephane Mbia, a recent slump in form has seen Li relieved of his duties. The club have won just one of their past five games.

Pellegrini had spent three seasons in England, taking Manchester City to the Premier League title at his first attempt in 2013-14.

However, the latter stages of his reign was overshadowed by the early announcement of Pep Guardiola as his successor this summer.

Pellegrini bowed out after taking the club to the 2015-16 Champions League semi-finals.

In China, he joins Luiz Felipe Scolari, Clarence Seedorf, Fabio Cannavaro and Vladimir Stojkovic in coaching clubs across the top two divisions.
