All smiles: Messi scored two against Sevilla on Wednesday night.

While the club’s record goalscorer delivered yet another stellar performance against Sevilla, scoring a brace in Barcelona’s 3-0 win, he took a few more steps towards further greatness in terms of his goal statistics.

His goals at the Nou Camp have now taken his tally of goals for Barca to 496 in official matches, just four away from an historic 500th. And the little magician is aged just 29, you would reckon there’s plenty more to come.

What’s more is that Messi’s favourite La Liga opponent is again Sevilla, against whom he has scored a massive 29 goals (in all competitions).

Including friendlies and unofficial fixtures, Messi actually reached 500 Barca goals last November – but now he is close to the milestone in the matches that firmly count in the history books.

Lionel Messi is, without doubt, one of the two best players in the world and probably the greatest to ever take up the sport.

Now, that statement may ring true to you but it may also make your blood boil if you're a Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo fan.

But what you surely cannot deny, either way, is Messi's utter delight in taking on Sevilla.

The Argentine has made it a habit of producing his best displays against Sevilla down the years and ahead of Wednesday's latest game at the Camp Nou, Barcelona's YouTube channel has been quick to remind us of just how good Messi is against Sevilla.
As you can see in the video above, there are six very good reasons why Sevilla fans should be wary of their trip to Barcelona and the sight of that man Messi.
