When Barcelona and Juventus last met in the Champions League final in 2015, Dani Alves was part of a victorious Barcelona side that completed the treble with a 3-1 win over the Bianconeri that night.
On Tuesday, the Brazilian right-back will have a bittersweet moment as he faces Barcelona for the first time since his departure in the summer.
Hi Juventus side will be looking to overcome Alves’ old team and advance in this year’s Champions League.
Alves is a much-loved figure at Barcelona despite his departure, and the club have released a clip featuring his top-10 goals for the Blaugrana in anticipation of his return.
Will the Juventus right-back have a triumphant night against his old team?
Lionel Messi accomplishes new records almost every time he steps on the pitch for Barcelona.
From goalscoring to assist-making, the five-time FIFA Ballon D’or winner has made record-breaking a habit, often surpassing his own records.
And while there were reports of him not getting along well with Barca’s coach Luis Enrique earlier this season, according to this stat (below), time has brought Messi to a point where he is just three games away from his 100th league appearance under Enrique.
If Messi features in the next three league games for Barca, against Malaga, Real Sociedad and then the Clasico against Real Madrid, he will achieve the milestone.
And well, you can almost be sure of him not missing out considering the importance of the next few games for Barca.
While the club’s record goalscorer delivered yet another stellar performance against Sevilla, scoring a brace in Barcelona’s 3-0 win, he took a few more steps towards further greatness in terms of his goal statistics.
His goals at the Nou Camp have now taken his tally of goals for Barca to 496 in official matches, just four away from an historic 500th. And the little magician is aged just 29, you would reckon there’s plenty more to come.
What’s more is that Messi’s favourite La Liga opponent is again Sevilla, against whom he has scored a massive 29 goals (in all competitions).
Including friendlies and unofficial fixtures, Messi actually reached 500 Barca goals last November – but now he is close to the milestone in the matches that firmly count in the history books.
Messi is 4 goals away from his 500th Barça goal. He is 29. Ridiculous.— Diana Kristinne (@DianaKristinne) April 6, 2017
