  • Barca bound: Dembele and Seri (r).

Barcelona have moved a huge step closer to signing both Ousmane Dembele and Jean Michael Seri this week.

According to Catalan-based daily sports title Mundo Deportivo, Blaugrana are now inching ever nearer to a mega-money swoop for the wantaway Borussia Dortmund forward and highly-rated Nice central midfielder.

On Tuesday, the newspaper carried a headline, translating to: ‘Endless Final, Dembele and Seri’ – suggesting Barca made an important breakthrough in their long-term pursuit for the duo on Monday night.

It has been revealed Barcelona have progressed talks with Dembele, who recently made no secret of his desire to leave the Bundesliga giants by failing to attend training.

Having had one bid knocked back already for the 20-year-old, the Spanish club are looking to seal a €130m-plus transfer in the next few days.

Indeed, Barca have cash to burn following the world-record sale of Neymar to PSG and feel the signing of the former Rennes man would satisfy a disgruntled fan-base, still reeling from the Brazilian’s departure.

Dortmund have been resigned to losing the attacker for some time now and Barca are now tackling the final stages of the deal.

It’s also good news for the club in their hunt to sign midfield enforcer Seri.

While the Ivory Coast international admitted he had not been in touch with Barca on Sunday, Mundo Deportivo again disclosed the midfielder will move to the La Liga club following Nice’s second-leg Champions League first-round play-off tie against Napoli on Tuesday night.

Seri’s representatives and the French side are believed to be on the same page when it comes to negotiations with the Catalans, with a €40m transfer fee expected to seal the deal by the end of the week.

The news comes as a big boost for Barcelona as boss Ernesto Valverde and sporting director Robert Fernandez set to work on making sure Barca are competitive again against arch-rivals Real Madrid.
