The midfielder was taken off at the hour-mark.

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is set for three weeks out after breaking his toe in the Champions League last-16 clash against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The Spain international was taken off after an hour as Barcelona secured a 4-1 aggregate win over the Blues, and the club have announced he will be absent until early April.

“Medical tests have confirmed that FC Barcelona player Sergio Busquets has suffered a fractured phalanx of the fifth toe of his right foot, with a wound,” read a statement on the club’s website.

“He is expected to be out of action for approximately 3 weeks.”

The injury is set to rule Busquets out of the LaLiga games against Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla, and Spain’s friendlies against Germany and Argentina.

Club legend Iniesta is backing Gomes.

Barcelona‘s emphatic 3-0 Champions League win over Chelsea was a night to remember for the fans at Camp Nou not for just one but many reasons.

Among them was the fact that under-fire midfielder Andre Gomes was welcomed with a loud cheer when he came on as a substitute in the second-half.

The Camp Nou crowd also got behind the Portugal international whenever he was on the ball, singing his name, thereby encouraging him to do well.

Gomes had recently opened up about the pressure he has to deal with at Barca in an interview with Panenka, saying: “I do not feel good in the field, I’m not enjoying what I can do.”

To uplift Gomes’ self-confidence and show support to him, club legend Andres Iniesta too posted a picture on Twitter, alongside the 24-year-old where the pair can be seen smiling.

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta revealed he has an offer to move to China and will make a decision on his future before the end of April.

The 33-year-old came through the youth system at Barca, has made over 400 appearances for the club and signed a “lifetime contract” with the club in October.

But after a 3-0 win over Chelsea on Wednesday secured the team’s place in the Champions League quarter-finals, Iniesta admitted his future may lie elsewhere.

“Before April 30 I have to make the decision whether I’m still in Barcelona or I’m going to China. I have to assess what is best for me and for the club,” he said.

“It is a decision that I will communicate to the club first and then you will find out. I will make a decision before April 30.

“It will be the most honest for me and for the club.”

Iniesta has been linked with Tianjin Quanjian, although the Chinese Super League club declared the rumours “false” this week and threatened legal action to stamp them out.

Iniesta has won the Champions League four times and La Liga eight times during a period of sustained success for Barcelona.

Coach Ernesto Valverde said: “It’s a very personal decision, he has to decide.

“I’m not thinking of a Barcelona without Andres Iniesta because right now we have a Barcelona with Andres Iniesta.”
